Introduction:

Today we will reflect upon Religious Vocation. First of all before we reflect upon the topic lets accept that we are the children of God. As it is said  though we come through our parents but we are of God. We each one of us are sent into this world with a specific purpose. Therefore you and I am unique. The way I think, the way I talk, the way I behave fully differs from every second person in front of me. Now as a mature human being let's not fence our knowledge, our qualities, abilities only for our family, relatives, and friends but use them for the world. Because there is no second person like you. The work which is assigned to you has to be fulfilled only through you.

Why Did God Send Me To This World?

 

Religious Vocation:

The word Vocation  comes from the Latin "Vox" meaning voice. We are speaking of divine vocation; it is the voice of God calling. what is the meaning of call? To say something loudly or to shout in order to attract attention. In this materialistic world, where people tend to live only for themselves, enjoy the life and accumulate things for future, God has attracted your attention towards Him. Devine Vocation is a gift of God. Jesus says " You did not choose me; it was I who chose you" (Jn 15:16)  God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before Him. (Eph 4:1) He calls and we respond to his call.

1. God's call and responses in the Old Testament

1.0.Who is the Father of Faith: Abraham: (Keep in mind every vocation has a mission to fulfill, there are challenges, limitation of the one called by God and God is there to help them out.)

1. 1. The Call of Abram

          1.2. The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people   and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

                ² “I will make you into a great nation,
           and I will bless you;
          I will make your name great,
          and you will be a blessing.
                ³ I will bless those who bless you,
          and whoever curses you I will curse;
          and all peoples on earth
          will be blessed through you.”

                ⁴ So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him.

1.2. The call of Moses

Mission: To free Israelite from Egyptians

Moses sees the burning bush and goes close to it. As he reaches God assigns him a task to free Israelites from the slavery of Egyptians. God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, `The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.

Limitation. Then Moses said to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” God said your brother Aaron will be with you. You will speak what I command you. God was with Him always.

His mission was not so easy task to fulfill.

1.3. The Call of Jeremiah 1: 4-10

                ⁴ The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

                ⁵ “Before I formed you in the womb I knew  you,
           before you were born I set you apart;
          I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

(Excuses from Jeremiah) ⁶ “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

⁷ But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.

God assures his help ⁸ Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

God fulfills his promise  ⁹ Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. ¹⁰ See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”

2. Call and response From the New Testament

          2. 1. Call of Mother Mary: to be the Mother of Jesus

At first she was reluctant to respond to her call, she asked How is it possible I am not yet married. But later on;

·        She was ready to accept all the challenges to fulfil the call of God,

·        She has to no place to give birth to her child,

·        she had to flee from one place to another to safe guard the child.

·        She had to see her son's death. it was not an easy task for her to do.

           2.2. Call of John the Baptist:

To Prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He said repent for your sins. Correcting all the sinners to live a good life. He stood for the truth. and for the truth he gave his life.

          2.3. Call of St. Matthew: He was a tax collector became evangelist.

          2.4. Call of St. Paul: Paul : St. Paul was more than a prophet. His calling by the Lord ordained him to be a missionary to the new people of God.

And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple. Read the Conversion and mission of St Paul when you are free.

3. Every vocation requires a personal response:

Every vocation is a personal call and requires a personal response. as Viktor Frankl says, " everyone has his/her own specific vocation or mission in life, and everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein he/she cannot be replaced, nor can his/her life be repeated. Thus, everyone's task is unique."  as I was telling in the introduction we are unique so also our vocation and mission is unique.

Therefore vocation is personal. We each one need to respond to the call personally. God proposes his project to an individual He has chosen. He only proposes and does not ordinarily impose. He gives us freedom whether to accept or reject His call. However, if you reject His proposal, you reject what is best for you.

4. How can I respond a call everyday in my life?

4.1. Discernment:

How do you discern your vocation? ask the Lord every day, Lord what are you asking me to do with my life. If you are unable to discern your vocation people are around you to guide you to let you know about your call. For example

Call of Samuel: Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. ... So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.'” Here we see Samuel a young boy has not known the Lord but Eli helped him to recognise the call of God.

Similarly your authorities over here are your immediate guide. Share with them and find help through them.

4.2. Detachment from the worldly way of life:

You have responded the call of God therefore you have to detach yourselves from the world, follow the teaching of Jesus and live as your congregation demands.  

4.3. Prayer: ( calling upon God in prayer) Example: (Builder calling a civil engineer)  Though God calls us for a purpose, we are unable to respond to that call without his help. We cannot rely on our own wisdom, strength or ability. We have to depend on Him. Therefore our response to the vocation necessarily includes our prayer.

Conclusion:

The aim to live a religious life should be to do the will of God , to live for the love of humanity and to draw close to Him. The decision to enter a state of life should be made in light of this aim, and in the presence of Christ, in prayer. However, normally God’s will is not immediately manifested to us, therefore keep on praying discerning your vocation asking the Lord what are you asking me to do with my life. You may have our own limitations, weaknesses but God has called you for a specific purpose. May God bless you to be holy and blameless before Him. Amen.

PENTECOST SUNDAY// COME HOLY SPIRIT

1 Corinthians 12:3b-7.12-13 कोई पवित्र आत्मा के बिना यह नहीं कह सकता, ईसा ही प्रभु है।  कृपादान तो नाना प्रकार के होते हैं, किन्तु  आत्मा एक ही है।  सेवाएं तो नाना प्रकार के होते हैं, किन्तु प्रभु एक ही हैं।  प्रभाशाली कार्य तो नाना प्रकार के होते है, किन्तु एक ही ईश्वर द्वारा सब में सब कार्य सम्पन होते है।

वह प्रत्येक को वरदान देता है, जिससे वह सब के हित के लिए पवित्र आत्मा  को प्रकट करे। किसीको आत्मा द्वारा प्रज्ञां के शब्द मिलते हैं, किसी को उसी आत्मा द्वारा ज्ञान के शब्द मिलते है। और किसीको उसी आत्मा द्वारा विश्वास मिलता है। वही आत्मा किसी को रोगियोंको चंगा करनेका, किसीको भबिष्यवाणी करने का, किसीको आत्माओं की परख करने का, किसीको भाषाएँ बोलनेका और किसीको भाषाओँ की ब्याख्या करने का वरदान देता है।

एक ही और वही आत्मा यह सब करता है , वह अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार प्रत्येक को अलग अलग वरदान देता है।

चिंतन: ख्रीस्त में मेरे भाई और बहनो, ईश्वर हमें पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा सबोंको अपनी  इच्छा के अनुसार अलग अलग वरदान देता है। आज के दिन पवित्र आत्मा प्रेरितों के ऊपर उतारते हैं और सबोंको वरदान देते हैं।  "वह प्रत्येक को वरदान देता है, जिससे वह सब के हित के लिए पवित्र आत्मा  को प्रकट करे। किसीको आत्मा द्वारा प्रज्ञां के शब्द मिलते हैं, किसी को उसी आत्मा द्वारा ज्ञान के शब्द मिलते है। और किसीको उसी आत्मा द्वारा विश्वास मिलता है। वही आत्मा किसी को रोगियोंको चंगा करनेका, किसीको भबिष्यवाणी करने का, किसीको आत्माओं की परख करने का, किसीको भाषाएँ बोलनेका और किसीको भाषाओँ की ब्याख्या करने का वरदान देता है।" हमें भी बप्तीस्म और दृढ़करण संस्कार द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा मिला है। वही आत्मा हमें भी भिन-भिन वरदान दिया है।  क्या हम पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा दिए गए वरदानों को अपनी जीवन में पहचाना है ? हम सबों को हमारा गुण एक दूसरों से अलग करता है , वही गुण हमें समाज में एक बिशेस ब्यक्ति बनता है। वही गुणों के द्वारा हम एक दूसरे को मदत करे। हम समाज में एक दूसरे के ऊपर निर्भर करते हैं। क्योंकि जो दूसरों में है वह मुझ में नहीं है और जो मुझ में है वह दूसरों में नहीं है।

आज हम अपना जीवन को परखें और देखें की मुझमे कोनसी ऐसी गुण है जो मुझे दूसरों से अलग बनता है।  जब हम ईश्वर द्वारा दिए गए वरदानोंको पहचाने तो उसी से दूसरोंकी सेवा करें। Amen

REFLECTION FOR HOLY FRIDAY

 ख्रीस्त में मेरे माता पिताओं और भाई और बहनो

आज नबी इसयस का कथन येसु मसीह के द्वारा पूरा होता है। बीते कल हम वचन समारोह के द्वारं सुने की इसा मसीह प्रभु और गुरु होते हुवे भी एक सेवक के काम को करते हैं और अपना प्रेम और नम्रता को प्रकट करते हैं।  आज उसी सेवक के बारे नबी इसयस बर्णन करते हैं। 

देखो मेरे सेवक का नाम फैल जायेगा ......... वे उसे अपने आखोंसे देखेंगे।  हमरे प्रभु और गुरु, नबी इसयस का सेवक, ईश्वरीय मेमना के बिषय में बिस्तृत रूप से सुसमाचार में बर्णन किया गया है।

सुसमाचार में अनेक बिशेस ब्यक्तियों के बिषय में  बताया गया है।

जुडास: जो पैसा के प्रलोभन से येसु को पकड़वाया, येसु को धोखा दिया।  क्या हम भी अपनी स्वार्थ के लिए किसी को धोखा देते हैं?

पतरस : जो ख़ुशी से कुछ भी बोलता है पर समय आने पर उसे पूरा नहीं करपात।  क्या हम भी प्रतिज्ञा करने के बाद प्रतिज्ञाओं से मुकर जाते हैं  तथा गैर ख्रीस्तीयों की डर से येसु को अस्वीकार करते हैं?

एक झुण्ड के बिषय में भी बताया गया है: जिन्हों ने येसु को क्रूस दिया जय नारा लगाए : यही लोग जब येसु मसीह जेरूसलम प्रवेश करते हैं तो घोषणा किया  येसु हमारा राजा है।  पर आज उनका निर्णय बदल गय।  वे अपना बुद्धि प्रयोग नहीं करते।  इसप्रकार के लोगोंको सदरी में बिना पेन्द्री केर लोटा कहल जाए।  क्या हम भी क्या ठीक और गलत बिचार न करके हाँ में हाँ और ना में ना बोलते है?

अन्नास और प्रधान याजक कैफस : ये वे लोग है जो जीवन में कुछ दायित्वा लेना नहीं चाहते।  जो काम इनके द्वारा हो पता, दूसरोंको दे दिया

पिलातुस: जो अपना सिंहासन को बचने के लिए येसु को प्राण दंड की आज्ञा देते हैं। और इस फैसले से अपना हाँथ भी धो लेते हैं।  क्या हम भी अपने  स्वार्थ के लिए किसीके प्रति गलत निर्णय दिए हैं ?

दो डाकू : हम गलती या पाप करते हैं।  हम पाप में ही मरना पसंद करेंगे या ईश्वर से छमा मांगे।

माता मरिया : जो दुखों की घडी बेटे के साथ चले।  क्या हम अपने प्रिय जनोंके  दुःख के समय उनके साथ चलते हैं ?

येसु:  जिन्होंने एक दूसरे के पाप छमा करने के लिए शिख्या दिए ।।  क्रूस काठ में लटकते समय अपने बैरियों को माफ किये।

आज हम येसु के दुःख भोग की पाठ में ये बिशेस ब्यक्तियों के बारे सुना।  अब हमारा कर्तब्य है हम किसे अनुशरण करें ? ईश्वर हमें आशीष दें।

आज हम प्रभु येसु मशीह का क्रूस उपासना करने केलिए आए  हैं रोमिओ के लिए  क्रूस एक अपराध और दंड का चिन्ह था । येसु उसे हमारे लिए मुक्तिका चिन्ह बनाते हैं।   

जब कभी हम क्रूस का चिन्ह बनाते हैं हम तृत्वामए  ईश्वर की घोषणा करते हैं।  तृत्वामए ईश्वर में पिता: सृष्टि करता हैं, पुत्र: मुक्ति दाता और उधर करता हैं और पवित्र आत्मा:  हमें पवित्र करता हैं ।  इसलिए जब कभी हम क्रूस का चिन्ह बनाते हैं तो ये सरे बातोंको यद् करते बड़े आदर से बनायें।

क्रूस का चिन्ह बनाने समय हम अपना अस्नान संस्कार को भी यद् करें, क्योंकि उन्ही तृत्वामए ईश्वर के नाम लेते हुवे पुरोहित हमें कलीसिया में एक नाम देते हैं तथा ईश्वरीय परिवार  के एक सदस्य बनजाते है।

जब कभी क्रूस का चिन्ह बनाये हम मन ही मन ईश्वर को धन्यवाद् दे क्योंकि येसु प्रभु इसी क्रूस में मनुष्यों के प्रेम के लिए अपना जीवन को बलिदान चढ़ाये। इसलिए  क्रूस का चिन्ह आत्मा त्याग, अज्ञाकारिता और प्रेम का चिन्ह है।

ईश्वरीय मेमना, प्रभूयेसु ख्रीस्त के लहू से हमें  पाप से मुक्ति मिली है।  अतः क्रूस के उपासना में हम  सक्रिय भाग लें। Amen

Is 50: 4-9a; Mt 26:14-25

Today we thank the Lord for giving us the season of Lent to repent for our sins and live as children of God. Today we ask pardon from the Lord for the time we were selfish.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ

Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver coin. We do not know what was the value of silver coin in those days but the fact is he betrayed Him for money because he was thief used money for himself from the common box he handled.

According to Matthew 27:1–10, after learning that Jesus was to be crucified, Judas attempted to return the money he had been paid for his betrayal to the chief priests and  committed suicide by hanging.

There is no use in being upset over situations that have already happened and cannot be changed.

A good person thinks of others first. Therefore lets be aware of what/how we think, what we do in our lives because thought converts into action.

May God bless us and help us to live as children of God in days to come. Amen

TUESDAY OF THE HOLY WEEK

Is 49: 1-6; Jn 13:21-33,36-38

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

During the Holy week we read about the agony of Jesus, how one would be feeling, knowing that after few days he has to be killed like thief on the cross? Today Jesus says one among you will betray me. Jesus knows who is going to betray Him yet he leaves him alone. Does nothing against him rather says "what you are going to do, do quickly."

Dear Brothers and Sisters, it is ones total submission to the will of God. On Sunday we heard in passion reading  Abba' father, all things are possible for you. Remove this chalice from me. Yet not what I will but what you will." the pain and agony he is going through is his human nature. Because he was both God and human.

The message for us today is,  we also at times betray or someone betrays us. To betray or not fully depends upon self. On the other hand when someone betrays us what would be our response? Can we leave him or her at the hand of God. To do so we need deep relationship with God. In the time of our agony lets be united with God and accept the will of God in life.
